Music Ministry
|
Our Lady of the Valley is blessed to have a broad music ministry which serves the needs of the Parish. Interested parishioners need a good singing voice, the love of Sacred Music and singing, basic music reading skills and the willingness to fully participate in the Liturgies. Cantors The role of the Cantor is to lead the worship through song, proclaiming the word of God in the psalms and teaching the congregation songs, refrains and acclamations. Cantors sing at all weekend Masses and on Holy Days. Additional qualifications for cantors include a good solo voice and the ability and confidence to sing in front of a congregation. Cantors are encouraged to join and sing in the choir in order to become fully familiar with the music as it will be presented at the Mass. Cantor rehearsals are each Saturday morning at 8:45 in the Church. Alleluia Choir This 25-40 person Choir strives to inspire greater feeling in the liturgy by praying through song. The four part group leads the congregation in one Mass per week, usually the 9 am Sunday Mass from October through May. |
