Special Programs

Bridge Players
Party Bridge is the name of the game at The Holy Family Center every Friday starting at 11:45 am. The games last until 3 pm. You need not have a partner to participate and all single players are welcome. We do not give lessons so it is best if you have some playing knowledge and skill. Membership is open to the bridge playing public. Dues are $1 per week which is awarded at the end of the session as prize money.

Catholic Golden Agers
This is a friendly group dedicated to helping others maintain spiritual awareness and provides fun social activities that bring people together. Through the groups social and educational special programs, new friendships are developed, health is maintained and they reach out to others in the community. Monthly special activities include day and night trips in and around the region. During Lent a special Soup Line event is presented. Members volunteer to make soup and bread is donated from one of the local groceries. Members and their guests then enjoy the fruits of their labor. Donations are encouraged which go to a local charity. A different charitable group is selected each year to receive this donation. Monthly meetings include a raffle like fund raiser. Members buy tickets and the proceeds are split 50/50 to a member and the other half to the treasury. At Christmas time the group donates the funds in the raffle treasury to The Cistercian Nuns of The Santa Rita Abbey in Sonoita. Golden Agers support each other when in need and send appropriate greeting cards to those who are sick, grieving or are homebound. Their final event of the year is a picnic which is held in The Holy Family Center. This day long party features a hearty lunch, visiting, games and reflection on a year of good works. Meetings are the first Tuesday of the month from October through May. The Board meets at 2:00 pm and the general meeting begins at 3:00 pm for about an hour.

Line Dancing
Physical activities, exercise and camaraderie are the goals of Our Lady of the Valley's line dancing group. Monthly performances are given at Santa Rita Care Center and La Posada. The group will also perform for other groups when invited. The Line Dancing group is open to anyone interested in line dancing and new members are always welcome. The group meets every Thursday from 8:45–10:30 am in The Holy Family Center.

Sunday Night Bingo
This popular social gathering and parish fund raiser has been active for many years. Staffed by volunteer parishioners* from Our Lady of the Valley, any and all are welcome to come and play. Money raised is used to support a wide variety of projects and improvements, including the installation of the automatic doors at the church entrance, help with the speaker system and painting of the church. Bingo funds also paid for the recent parking lot repaving and for a van for the use of parish staff. Bingo is played each Sunday September through April in The Holy Family Center. Doors open at 5 pm and play begins at 6:30 pm. A snack bar is available for the purchase of coffee, donuts and other specials. Bingo staffers meet once a year and in April are honored by a Volunteer Appreciation dinner. Additional volunteers are welcome and needed. * Arizona State Law requires that Bingo volunteers be registered members of Our Lady of the Valley Parish.

Women's New To You
Each Wednesday this Women's' Guild volunteer group holds an Open Door Shop to sell clothing. The shop is open from 9:00 am till Noon in Room 208 of The Holy Family Center. Proceeds are deposited in the Guild Treasury for later donation. Items that are not sold are donated to the Pio Decimo Center in Tucson, an agency that helps the poor. Volunteers are always needed
